A message from the Market Manager:
Dear Rice University Farmers Market (RUFM) Community,
Due to the severity of COVID-19, Rice University has thoughtfully responded by taking classes online, decreasing all group sizes down to 25 people and has reduced the density of the campus population by encouraging faculty and staff to work from home and through other creative measures. This decision falls within the parameters that the city and state are taking and in correlation with the CDC guidelines. The market will be closed through April 30. We will continue to work with the Rice Crisis Management team to make an informed decision as to when the market will reopen. The situation is very fluid and may require a longer length of closure.
Because of you, our loyal customers, RUFM is considered one of the strongest mid-week markets in the state. You understand how buying locally causes a ripple effect in our economy and ecology. Our vendors greatly depend on your support, please contact them directly to gain access to their products. I would also encourage you to follow our social media for more specific updates.
I personally want to thank you for your support. Seeing you every week, with excitement, to buy your favorite items, be it a smoked BBQ sandwich, seasonal vegetables or a freshly-made goat milk popsicle, brings immense joy to my heart.
It’s extremely important to support your local farmers. Until the market reopens, be well and eat your (local) veggies.
